The frigid cold of winter is slowly starting to move out, making way for the promise of warmer spring temperatures.
The coming of springtime also means that new racing schedules are being finalized and released.
Let's start with some Saskatchewan dirt track news.
Outlook Stock Car Track will host monthly races commencing May 24 and 25, and ending with the speedway's annual Canadian Thanksgiving weekend event, the Fall Classic, scheduled for October 11 and 12. All dates feature 2 days of racing.
Swift Current Motor Speedway released their schedule with a bonus teaser event. Racing begins May 31st with monthly 2-day racing events through September. The speedway has been teasing a bonus event on social media that will be revealed on February 20th.
Estevan Motor Speedway has never been shy about trying different events and this season is no exception. In addition to their biweekly racing program, the speedway will host 2 big special events in 2025.
On Monday, July 7th, the Dakota Classic Modified Tour makes it's annual return to the 3/8 mile high-banked dirt track. Some of the top IMCA drivers in North America support this tour and is always a fast-paced and entertaining event.
The biggest news to be released is the inaugural race of the Western Renegade Non-Wing Sprint Car Series in Estevan on Saturday, August 9th. This will be the first sanctioned race in Canada and is promising to be a great event as open wheel racing returns to Saskatchewan.
Now a little Manitoba news.
On February 4th, Victory Lane Speedway released a statement announcing that this may potentially be it's last season of operation. Like many businesses, Victory Lane is not immune to the financial struggles of today's economy.
All they are asking for is support from racing fans to fill the stands. For sponsoring partners to step up and advertise at the speedway.
Victory Lane holds good memories as some of my favourite dirt track racing moments took place there.
I am only one person, but I will do my part to help support the speedway.
I believe the new ownership deserves an opportunity to make memories there too.
Until next time, take care and good racing.
