Welcome To Prairie Dirt Writings

Greetings and welcome to Prairie Dirt Writings.
On this blog you will find some of my favorite writings over my 20-plus years of involvement with the dirt track racing community.
Writing is like taking a photograph. It is capturing a moment in time.
These articles, columns, reports and releases are unedited.
I hope you enjoy reading this collection as much as I enjoyed writing them.

Western Renegades Major Event on 2022 Schedule

Billed as the biggest traditional sprint car event in North Dakota under the UMSS Renegades banner, the inaugural North Dakota Non-Wing Nationals is scheduled to take place at Devil's Lake Speedway on Labour Day weekend, 2022.

The two night event will commence on Saturday September 3rd, ending with the grand finale on Sunday, September 4th.

In addition, the group also announced a "Night Before the Nationals" race at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, North Dakota.

Series owner Myles Tomlinson shared in his statement that he wanted to give something back to the people who have supported the sprint car series since starting in 2020.  The North Dakota Non-Wing Nationals will feature racing teams from the Western Renegades, the Northern Renegades and the UMSS making it the most ambitious racing project of the new season.

As time moves closer to the event, more announcements will be forthcoming, however it is clear that 2022 will be buzzing with excitement.

Thus far, the schedule for the Western Renegades includes racing at their home track of Devil's Lake Speedway (Devil's Lake, ND), plus stops at McLean County Speedway (Underwood, ND), Nodak Speedway (Minot, ND), Williston Basin Speedway (Williston, ND), River Cities Speedway (Grand Forks, ND) and Buffalo River Speedway (Glyndon, MN)

The affordable open wheel class continues to grow in numbers of racers and fans as they showcase their fun, yet very competitive style of dirt-slinging racing.
